Who am I?
My name is Av Lauren, but you probably already caught on to that.
I was born in Canada, however, I come from a small but close-knit Scottish family that immigrated here in the 1960s. My heritage is what greatly inspired the name "Thistle Photos" for my businesses name - for those that don't know the Thistle is the national flower of Scotland. In 2023, I emigrated back to the UK and currently reside in Scotlands capital of Edinburgh.
As a photographer, I have been learning and developing my photography since 2016. I am originally from the Okanagan Valley which is in British Columbia's interior and home to Canada's only desert. Lest to say, I am very appreciative of the Edinburgh's rainy weather. In fact, I am very much obsessed with rain and bodies of water - one of my favourite styles to shoot is with a model in water or rain. Maybe this comes from being raised in a desert or the many water-related hobbies I've taken interest in, but I'm ready for a photoshoot come rain or shine. I will occasionally still shoot in Canada and other locations, so check out my social media handles for any upcoming trips I may be making!
I love doing portraits and artistic photoshoots, but I also do couple, engagement shoots, and headshots.
